Springfield, Mass. - January 14, 2019 - For the second time this season, Springfield College's Jake Ross (Northampton, Mass.) was tabbed as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Basketball Offensive Athlete of the Week after a pair of standout showings last week.
In two NEWMAC games last week, Ross averaged 35 points per outing, shooting an impressive 59% from the field. In a midweek setback to Clark, Ross scored 28 points on 11-of-20 shooting to go along with seven rebounds, three steals, and three assists before erupting for a career-high 42 points in just 30 minutes of action in handing Emerson their first conference loss of the season. In addition to shooting 15-for-24, including 4-of-8 from deep against Emerson, Ross added five steals, four boards, and a pair of assists.
Springfield will be back in action on Wednesday night when it travels to face nationally-ranked MIT at 6 pm.
