Springfield, Mass. - February 26, 2019 - For the third time in his career, Springfield College's Jake Ross (Northampton, Mass.) was named to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Basketball All-Conference First Team.
Ross was the only player in the NEWMAC this year to rank in the top five in scoring, rebounding, and assists as his well-rounded play helped Springfield reach the NEWMAC Championship Semifinals as the No. 3 seed. The Recreation Management major scored a conference-best 23.8 points per game, ranked fourth in the conference in 8.7 boards per contest, while his 92 assists was the fifth-highest total. In 23 games, Ross shot 44% from the field, connecting on 183-of-418 field goal attempts, and was especially efficient from the charity stripe, knocking down 88% of his attempts, going 137-for-155. He also pulled in 303 rebounds and totaled 39 steals. To date, Ross ranks 14th nationally in points per game and is 29th in free throw percentage. He scored at least 30 points in six games this season, including a career-best 42-point outing in a win over Emerson on Jan. 12.
Through three seasons with the Pride, Ross has scored 1,906 points, which ranks third most in program history, and has also totaled 736 rebounds, 305 assists, and 157 steals.
