Brewster, Mass. - October 23, 2017 - The Springfield College golf team finished ninth at the 83rd New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championship at the Captains Golf Course on Cape Cod, wrapping up their fall season.
Springfield totaled 636 strokes over the 36-hole event. Husson won the 19-team field with 586 strokes, closely followed by Rhode Island College (597) and Babson (599), while Western New England (608) and Nichols (609) rounded out the top five.
Jake Raichle (Bethlehem, N.H.) finished tied for 30th among the 90-plus competitors in the championship as he turned in a two-day total of 156, highlighted by an even-round score of 72 on Sunday. Raichle's score of 72 was one of only seven rounds of the tournament at par or better.
Mike Strong (Newington, Conn.) tied for 36th as he posted a score of 158, while both Travis Price (Reading, Mass.) delivered an 80 on Monday for a total of 162. Matt Gazaille (Palmer, Mass.) also registered an 80 in his second round to finish his tournament score of 163, and Greg Allen (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) carded his second-conseutive score of 82 to wrap up the Pride's competitors.
