Men's Lacrosse Receiving Votes In Latest USILA National Coaches Poll

Springfield, Mass. - February 28, 2016 - The Springfield College men's lacrosse team is now receiving votes in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Coaches Poll after a season-opening victory.

Springfield began the season with a 10-8 victory at Nazareth College last Saturday, a game in which the Pride stormed out to a 7-1 halftime cushion.  It marked the ninth-straight season that Springfield was victorious in its first contest of the year.  Springfield was paced by the offensive efforts of Joe Hawley (Poulsbo, Wash.), who tallied two goals and two assists, while Jake Reynolds (Scituate, Mass.) made 10 stops between the pipes en route to earning New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Lacrosse Defensive Athlete of the Week honors.

As a program, Springfield has won 10-straight conference championships and have a 2018 schedule filled with nationally-ranked opponents, including showdowns with No. 1 RIT and No. 8 Cortland in the next two weeks.

The Pride will hit the field again on Saturday when it travels to face 16th-ranked Stevens in Hoboken for a 1 pm contest.
