Springfield, Mass. - April 23, 2018 - Springfield College's Jake Reynolds (Scituate, Mass.) and Jack Vail (Franklin, Mass.) were honored for their impressive performances last week, as they each earned New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Lacrosse weekly honors, announced on Monday. Additionally, Reynolds was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III North Defensive Player of the Week.
Reynolds, a senior Health Care Management major at Springfield College, was tabbed the NEWMAC Men's Lacrosse Defensive Athlete of the Week, while Vail, a junior attackman and Business Management major at Springfield College, was named the NEWMAC Men's Lacrosse Offensive Athlete of the Week.
Reynolds had a standout week between the pipes for a Springfield team that picked up wins over Coast Guard and MIT. In two outings, Reynolds totaled 24 saves, posting a save percentage of 57.1 and a goals against average of 9.00. In the Pride's 11-8 win over Coast Guard, who was receiving votes in the national poll, the senior posted 10 stops before turning in a 14-save performance in a weekend triumph over MIT.
Vail powered the Pride's offense to a pair of NEWMAC wins last week as he combined for four goals, three assists, and nine ground balls. In Springfield's win over Coast Guard, Vail erupted for three goals and three assists to snap Coast Guard's five-game winning streak, before delivering a goal in Springfield's win over MIT on Saturday.
Springfield College will return to action on Wednesday, April 25 when the Pride hosts Clark in rematch of last season's NEWMAC Championship at 7 p.m. on Stagg Field.
