Springfield, Mass. - March 18, 2019 - For the second time this season, Springfield College's Cole Finerty (Kensington, N.H.) was selected as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Lacrosse Defensive Athlete of the Week.
The Sport Management major led the Pride to an 8-4 non-conference victory at Endicott on Saturday, as he produced 18 saves and surrendered just one goal in the second half, in helping Springfield snap a three-game slide. He made at least four saves in each quarter, including the third quarter when he blanked the Gulls and made six stops. To date, Finerty ranks sixth in Division III with 18.20 saves per game, and is one of only 10 goalies among the 383 men's lacrosse programs in the nation across all three divisions to average at least 18 stops a contest.
Finerty and the Pride will play again on Thursday when they take on Sewanee at Colorado College in a contest that will be played at 12 pm MST.
