John Thomas Kapnis will start his second year with the Springfield College men's lacrosse coaching staff during the 2019-20 academic year as a graduate assistant coach, as the Salem, Mass. native will also be working towards his Master's in Athletic Administration while assisting head coach Keith Bugbee with the day-to-day coaching duties. Kapnis was a four-year member of the Pride, and recently earned his Bachelor's degree in Physical Education in May of 2018.
Kapnis had an impressive career with the maroon and white, as he started 55 of the 59 games that he played in during his four years on Alden Street. The 5-foot-10 defenseman started all but one game for Springfield College over the past three seasons. Kapnis finished his career with 31 caused turnovers, and also picked up 51 ground balls, 20 of which came during his senior season. A NEWMAC First-Team All-Conference selection in 2018, Kapnis also earned NEILA Academic All-Region honors following his senior season.
