Springfield, Mass. - September 4, 2018 - Springfield College's Stewart Frank (Pittsford, N.Y.) of the men's soccer team has been recognized for his impressive performances this past week, as the Pride's netminder earned New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week honors, announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Frank, a senior goalkeeper and Sport Management major at Springfield College, was instrumental in the Pride claiming the Best Western Plus Cardinal Classic Championship this past weekend, as the maroon and white defeated both Potsdam and Plattsburgh on Friday and Saturday. Frank turned in his first clean sheet of the year in a 2-0 result against Potsdam, as he only needed three saves in the win, before registering three more in a 2-1 victory over Plattsburgh. For his efforts, Frank was named the Tournament's Defensive MVP.
The Pride will resume action on Wednesday, September 5 when it travels to nationally-ranked Brandeis, before taking on Westfield State on Saturday, September 8 and Stevens on Sunday, September 9.
