Sobel Finishes Second on One-Meter at NCAA Championships

Minneapolis, Minn. – March 19, 2010Brian Sobel finished second in the country in the one-meter diving competition on Friday evening at the 2010 NCAA Division III Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships.

The junior capped off a great weekend the national meet as he previously finished seventh on the three-meter board on Thursday evening. After missing the first semester with an injury, Sobel returned to form in the second half of the year as he earned his second-consecutive New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) crown.

Sobel totaled 527.90 points en route to finishing second in the nation as he took home his second All-American honor of the week. Nathan LaRowe from SUNY Potsdam won the national championships as he scored 548.00 points to top the field.

Teammate Matt Fitzgerald earned Honorable Mention All-American honors as he placed 12th with a score of 431.60.
