Cambridge, Mass. – February 17, 2012 – Kenny Pancoast won the three-meter title to lead the Springfield College men’s swimming and diving team in the opening day of the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships on Friday night.
MIT has outdistanced themselves early from the field with 381 points, followed by Coast Guard’s tally of 220 points. The Pride currently sit in third with 182 points.
The Pride dominated the diving competition as they placed four in the top eight. Pancoast totaled 505.35 to claim his first conference title, followed by Tyler Gunningsmith’s second-place score of 460.90. Jack Lewis took third with a 452.10, while Dalton Crantek placed seventh with a 392.80.
Springfield opened up the evening session in the 200 free relay as the squad of Scott Mackstutis, Josh Ernst, Jason Scotto, and Nolan Manley placed third in 1:24.39.
In the 500 freestyle, Phillip Murphy took eighth in 4:43.72.
The Pride wrapped up the evening with a third-place finish in the 400 medley relay as Josh Ernst, Brad Mills, Scott Mackstutis, and Nolan Manley combined to swim a 3:30.51.
