NYU Tops Men’s Swimming & Diving, 187.5-107.5

New York, N.Y. – January 18, 2014 - Jack Lewis (Durham, N.H.) continued his dominance on the boards for the Springfield College men’s swimming & diving team, despite a 187.5-107.5 loss to host New York University on Saturday.

Lewis swept both the one and three meter boards. He took first on the one meter with a national qualifying score of 321.83. On the three meter board, Lewis was victorious producing a national qualifying mark of 323.10. Pat Smith (Niskayuna, N.Y.) placed second on both the one and three meter boards with scores of 257.02 and 277.13, respectively.

Michael Normoyle (Springfield, Mass.) touched second in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:11.77.

In the 100 yard breaststroke, Brad Mills (Enfield, Conn.) took runner up touching at 1:02.05. Hayden Cassidy (Ada, Mich.) tied for second in the 100 free after touching in 49.38. In addition, Jason Scotto (Southbury, Conn.) scored third place points in the 50 free with a time of 22.69 and in the 200 free after touching in 1:47.52.

The Pride closed out the meet with the second fastest time in the 400 free relay with Cassidy, Normoyle, Scotto, and Daniel Fay (Yorktown, N.Y.) posting a time of 3:18.91.

Springfield will travel to Babson next Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. start.
