Springfield, Mass.-January 24, 2015- The Springfield College men's swimming and diving team picked up the 139-102 victory over Babson College in a dual meet on Saturday afternoon in Linkletter Natatorium.
Michael Normoyle (Springfield, Mass.) had a strong day for the Pride as he touched the wall first in two events. He finished the 50 free in 22.50 and completed the 100 breaststroke in a season-best 58.84.
The Pride nabbed the first three slots in the 200 free behind the strong swimming of Daniel Fay (Yorktown, N.Y.) (1:49.09), Hayden Cassidy (Ada, Mich.) (1:50.11) and Alex Beauvais (Ipswich, Mass.) (1:53.74). Cassidy also swam strong in the 100 free as he claimed the top spot in 49.53.
Fay finished his day with a second place finish in the 100 backstroke in 56.45, followed by teammate Kelly Dullard (Waterbury, Conn.) who touched the wall in 58.39. Freshman Kent Parsons (Hamilton, Mass.) delivered in the 100 butterfly as he captured the 54.61 first place title, while Phillip Murphy (Holyoke, Mass.) added second-place points after registering a 10:41.76 in the 1,000 free.
On the diving boards, Jack Lewis (Durham, N.H.) took the top spots, each with national qualifying standards. On the one-meter Lewis earned a 339.20, with a 326.55 on the three-meter. Michael Card (Fairless Hills, Pa.) and Liam Barnes (Cheshire, Conn.) claimed the two and three notches on both the one-meter and the three-meter boards. Card placed second in the one-meter with a 268.10 and third on the three-meter with a 267.70. Barnes ended the day in third on the one-meter (260.35) and second on the three-meter (276.20).
Up next, the Pride will compete in the Middlebury Invitational on both Friday and Saturday of next week.
