Danbury, Conn. - February 26, 2015 - Senior diver Jack Lewis (Durham, N.H.) of the Springfield College men's swimming and diving program was honored as the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Diver of the Week for the fourth time this season on Wednesday evening.
This past weekend, Lewis repeated as the NEWMAC Men's Diver of the Year, marking the 12th time in the past 13 years that a Springfield diver has won the award. By repeating as the conference's top male diver, Lewis is the fourth Springfield diver to earn the award multiple years, joining Kenny Pancoast, Brian Sobel, and Mike Shaw. The Recreation Management major also swept the 1-meter and 3-meter diving competitions for the second-straight season.
On day one of the NEWMAC Championships, Lewis repeated as the one-meter champion after he registered an score of 510.60. The Recreation Managment major's victory marked the 15th-straight NEWMAC Championships diving event that was won by a Springfield College men's diver and was also the second-straight year that he claimed the top spot on the one-meter board. Earlier in the meet, Lewis scored a 546.03 in prelims, setting a new facility record.
On day three, Lewis had the performance of the night for he posted a score of 565.30 on the 3-meter board to easily take first place, marking the second year in a row that he has captured the titles on both boards. This mark along with his one-meter score of 510.60 broke both of WPI's pool records and qualified Lewis for the NCAA Diving Championship.
