Men's Swimming and Diving Compete in Opening Day of Ithaca Invitational

Ithaca, N.Y. - December 4, 2015 - The Springfield College men's swimming and diving team opened up competition in five events at the Ithaca Invitational Friday night. 

The three-day competition opened with the 500 free event as the Pride's Austin Von Heeringen (Germanstown, Md.) finished in a time of 4:52.4. 

In the 200 IM, Kent Parsons (Hamilton, Mass.) touched the wall in 2:00.44, while Michael Normoyle (Springfield, Mass.) followed closely in a time of 2:01.10. 

Sammy Grudzien (Fiskdale, Mass.) was the top finisher for Springfield in the 50 free, posting a time of 23.22, while the 200 Medley relay of Von Herringen, Parsons, Normoyle, and Daniel Fay (Yorktown, N.Y.) teamed up for a final time of 1:38.07.  

The Pride will be back in action tomorrow at 10am for the second day of the Ithaca Invitational.
