Men's Swimming and Diving Finishes First Day of NEWMAC Championship

Boston, Mass. - February 18, 2016 - The Springfield College men's swimming and diving program kicked off the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference Championships on Thursday evening in the Zesiger Sports and Fitness Center Pool, hosted by MIT. 

The competition opened up with a fifth place finish by junior Nicholas Sullivan (Wrentham, Mass.) in the one meter diving event, with a score of 384.15. 

In the 800 free relay, the team of Tim DeCoste (Greenville, R.I.), Austin Von Heeringen (Germantown, Md.), Sammy Grudzien (Fiskdale, Mass.), and Alex Beauvais (Ipswich, Mass.) touched the wall in 7:06.32 and finished in fifth place. 

Springfield will return to action tomorrow at 10am for the second of the four day NEWMAC Championship.
