Cambridge, Mass. - February 20, 2016 - The Springfield College men's swimming and diving team completed the third day of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships, hosted by MIT in the Zesiger Sports and Fitness Center Pool on Saturday evening.
In the 100 breast, Michael Normoyle (Springfield, Mass.) claimed third place and touched the wall in 56.42, an NCAA "B"cut, after finishing with the fastest time in the prelims.
Austin Von Heeringen (Germantown, Md.) represented Springfield in the 100 backstroke, finishing with the ninth-fastest time of 52.52.
In the 200 medley relay, Sam LaRiviere (North Waterboro, Maine. ), Kent Parsons (Hamilton, Mass.), Tim DeCoste (Greenville, R.I.), and Sammy Grudzien (Fiskdale, Mass.) raced to a fifth place finish in 1:34.04.
Nick Sullivan (Wrentham, Mass.) competed in the three meter diving event, finishing in 384.10 and taking fifth place.
Springfield holds fifth place with 345 points, as MIT keeps the lead with 1,025 points, followed by WPI (736.5), Coast Guard (704.5), and Wheaton (391.5).
The Pride will compete in the final day of the NEWMAC Championships tomorrow at 10am.
