Men's Swimming and Diving Falls To Holy Cross In Final Dual Meet

Worcester, Mass. - February 3, 2017 - The Springfield College men's swimming and diving program was edged by Division I Holy Cross, 168-123, in its final dual meet of the 2016-17 campaign on Friday night. 

Austin Von Heeringen (Germantown, Md.) produced the fastest time in the 100 back after touching in 55.03 and later cruised to a win in the 200 back in 2:00.13.  Von Heeringen added to the Pride's point total with a dominating showing in the 500 free, delivering a time of 5:02.14 to win by over 11 seconds. 

Sean Harnish (Middlebury, Con.) touched first in the 1,000 free in 10:31.81 and was runner-up in the 100 fly with a 55.81.  In the 100 breaststroke, Kent Parsons (Hamilton, Mass.) swam a winning time of 1:00.30 and posted a 2:13.86 in the 200 breast to earn first-place points. 

On the three-meter board, Nick Sullivan (Wrentham, Mass.) placed third with a 217.65 and also took third on the one-meter with a 214.20

Springfield closed out the meet with the second-fastest time in the 400 free relay as Tim Decoste (Greenville, R.I.), Parsons, Harnish, and Von Heeringen combined for a 3:20.71.

The Pride will now put its focus on the upcoming New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship, which will be held at WPI from February 16-19.
