Lake Nona, Fla. - March 20, 2019 - Competing for the second time during their annual Spring Break trip, the Springfield College men's tennis team was downed by Hamline, 6-3, at the USTA National Campus on Wednesday afternoon.
Springfield fell to 1-3 on the year with the setback.
In doubles play, the No. 2 team of Freddie Moffa (Granby, Conn.) and Jack Anastopoulos (Chestnut Hill, Mass.) battled their way to an 8-6 victory, while Court Honda (Morioka, Japan) and Drew DeLorenzo (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) were clipped by an 8-6 decision as the Pride trailed 2-1 heading into singles action.
Anastopoulos delivered a 6-2, 6-3 victory for the Pride at the No. 5 spot and Lucas Van Deventer (Ellington, Conn.) turned a 7-6, 7-5 win at No. 6 to account for Springfield two points in singles play.
The Pride will close out its time in Florida with a showdown versus Wisconsin Superior on Thursday night at the USTA National Campus starting at 6:30 pm.
