Lake Nona, Fla. - March 20, 2019 - The Springfield College men's tennis team was edged by Wisconsin-Superior, 5-4, in their third and final match of their Spring Break trip at the USTA National Campus on Thurdsay night.
The Pride's Court Honda (Morioka, Japan) and Drew DeLorenzo (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) battled to an 8-7 victory at the top doubles spot before UW-Superior answered with a pair of 8-5 wins at both No. 2 and 3 to take a 2-1 lead into singles play.
Honda continued to impress and eased his way to a 6-4, 6-0 win at the No. 1 position, while Jack Anastopoulos (Chestnut Hill, Mass.) turned in a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 5 for the Pride. Lucas Van Deventer (Ellington, Conn.) added Springfield's third singles win of the night as he prevailed by a 6-3, 3-6, 10-6 win while competing at No. 6.
Springfield will now return north to face Salve Regina on Tuesday at 3:30 pm.
