Men's Tennis Closes Out Season With 8-1 Setback To Clark

Worcester, Mass. - April 24, 2019 - Needing a win to have their season continue, the Springfield College men's tennis team was defeated by Clark University, 8-1, on Wednesday afternoon in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play at the Corash Tennis Courts. 

Clark swept the doubles competition, despite a pair of strong outings by the Pride at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots.  The No. 2 team of Freddie Moffa (Granby, Conn.) and Jack Anastopoulos (Chestnut Hill, Mass.) and the No. 3 squad of Hieu Ton (Rocky Hill, Conn.) and James Foley (Fair Haven, N.J.) each dropped 8-7 decisions. 

In his final collegiate match, Court Honda (Marioka, Japan) went out in style for the Pride as he delivered a 6-4, 1-6, 10-6 win at the No. 1 singles position.  Anastopoulos also had a strong showing at the No. 4 position, falling by a 4-6, 6-4, 10-3 score, while Lucas VanDeventer (Ellington, Conn.) also battled at the No. 5 spot, dropping a 6-4, 6-3 decision.
