Men's Track and Field Finishes Third at American International College Invitational

Springfield, Mass. - April 6, 2019 - The Springfield College men's track and field team competed at the American International College Invitational on Saturday afternoon, as the Pride  took third place with a total of 93 points, trailing only Southern Connecticut State University and American International, both Division II institutions.

Junior Tyler Hansen (Shelton, Conn.) took second in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.21 seconds, qualifying him for Division III New England's, while Ben Batoosingh (Scarborough, Maine) and Eric McCracken (Gales Ferry, Conn.) also scored points in the event, taking sixth and seventh overall, respectively. Batoosingh would go on to take third in the 200 meter finals with a time of 22.46, good enough to qualify for Division III New England's, while McCracken also scored and qualified in the race with a time of 22.81 seconds.

Sophomore Kris Rhim (Philadelphia, Pa.) was fifth in the 400 meter dash with a mark of 52.21 seconds, while in the 800 meter race, Cormac Tolan (Greenville, N.Y.) was third, crossing in 1:58.85. Russell Allen (Auburn, Maine) was sixth in the 1500 meter race with a time of 4:10.74, while JT McMillen (Dunellen, N.J.) was fifth in the 10k with a time of 35:34.72.

Sophomore Damian Mackay-Morgan (Simsbury, Conn.) was third in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.51 seconds, qualifying him for Division III New England's, while Dan Lane (Southwick, Mass.) also qualified with a mark of 16.15. The men's 4x100 relay team of Batoosingh, Emmanuel Amenlemah (Pittsfield, Mass.), DeShaun Dias (Mashpee, Mass.) and Hansen won with a combined time of 42.58 seconds, while in the field events, Connor Strain (Longmeadow, Mass.) was fourth in the high jump, clearing 1.80 meters.

Sophomore Josh Silvester (Manchester, Conn.) qualified for the Division III New England's in the long jump, clearing 6.60 meters, while Dante Curry (Torrington, Conn.) was fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 12.87 meters. Daniel Stevenson (Meriden, Conn.) was second in the hammer with a mark of 47.03 meters, qualifying for Division III New England's. 

Springfield College will now gear up for the Silfen Invitational at Connecticut College, which will begin on Friday, April 12 in New London, Conn.
