Men's Track and Field Takes Sixth at Connecticut College's Silfen Invitational

New London, Conn. - April 13, 2019 - The Springfield College men's track and field team produced 57.5 points en route to a sixth-place finish at the Silfen Invitational this past weekend, which was a two-day meet hosted by Connecticut College on Friday and Saturday.

WPI won the meet with 97.5 points, as Middlebury (85.5) and the University of New Haven (73) rounded out the top three. Taking fourth was Bowdoin with 66 points, while Tufts was fifth with 59.

The 4x100 team of Ben Batoosingh (Scarborough, Maine), Eric McCracken (Gales Ferry, Conn.), DeShaun Dias (Mashpee, Mass.) and Tyler Hansen (Shelton, Conn.) produced a second-place time of 42.37 seconds, while in the 110 meter hurdles, Damian Mackay-Morgan (Simsbury, Conn.) was second, crossing in 15.60 seconds. Dan Lane (Southwick, Mass.) also took eighth in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 16.25 seconds, scoring a point for the maroon and white.

Hansen was second in the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.96 seconds, as the junior was also second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.25 seconds. Batoosingh also scored points in the 200, clocking in at 22.62 seconds.

In the field events, Kyle Kublbeck (Great Barrington, Mass.) was third in the high jump, clearing 1.80 meters, as Connor Strain (Longmeadow, Mass.) was sixth, also clearing 1.80 meters. Josh Silvester (Manchester, Conn.) won the triple jump, clearing 14.15 meters, while in the javelin, Evan Tryon (New London, Conn.) was seventh in the javelin, producing a heave of 46.50 meters.

On Friday night, Springfield College had Russell Allen (Auburn, Maine) and Cormac Tolan (Greenville, N.Y.) in the 800 meter run, as Allen finished with a time of 1:57.66, just ahead of Tolan's time of 1:59.05. Senior Jarod Authier (Chicopee, Mass.) also earned points for the Pride in the long jump, producing a distance of 6.53 meters.

 Up next, Springfield College will prepare for its lone home meet of the spring, hosting the Springfield College Invitational at Blake Track on Saturday, April 20.
