Waterford, Conn. - October 13, 2018 - The Springfield College men's cross country team closed the regular season at the Connecticut College Invitational on Saturday, as the Pride's final meet before the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships was hosted at Harkness Memorial State Park.
The Pride totaled 736 points on the afternoon as it was fourth among teams that compete in the conference.
Leading the group was sophomore Ryan Vermette (Nashua, N.H.), who clocked in at a team-best time of 26:53.1, while Russell Allen (Auburn, Maine) was next with a time of 27:06.1. Following JT McMillen (Dunnelin, N.J.), who registered a finishing time of 28:03.4 was a group that was only separated by just one second, as Liam Murphy (Patterson, N.Y.) had a time of 28:21.4, Tyler Cronin (Melrose, Mass.) had a time of 28:21.8 and Chris Tringali (Millville, Mass.) had a time of 28:22.4.
Outside of the Pride's top five was Cormac Tolan (Greenville, N.Y.), who had a time of 28:31.6, while James Harron (Brookfield, Conn.) followed suit with a time of 29:10.2. Wrapping up the day, Gabe Christiana (New Paltz, N.Y.) had a time of 30:20.0.
The Pride will now focus its attention on the NEWMAC Championships, which will be hosted on Sunday, October 27 at Smith College in Northampton, Mass.
