Women’s Gymnastics Places Third at Bulldog Invitational

New Haven, Conn. – February 12, 2011 – The Springfield College women’s gymnastics team finished third out of three teams in the Bulldog Invitational hosted by Yale University on Saturday afternoon.

The Pride scored 178.950 points, while Temple tallied 191.600 points to win the competition. Host Yale finished second with 184.350 points.

For the Pride, Christina Pagella tied for fourth on the vault with a 9.525 for Springfield’s top finish of the afternoon. Teammate Carly Flynn tied for eighth in the same event with a 9.300.

Flynn was Springfield’s top finisher on the uneven parallel bars as she tied for ninth with a 9.050. Also tying for ninth on the balance beam was Kristina Lantos, who recorded a score of 8.950. Lizzie Sartell totaled a score of 9.400 in the floor exercise, which was good enough for eighth place.

Springfield had a pair of competitors in the all-around competition. Brittany Baglow finished fifth with a 35.475, while Flynn took seventh with a score of 35.175.

The Pride returns to action next Sunday when it hosts Southern Connecticut at 11:30 am.
