West Chester Edges Women’s Gymnastics, 187.575 – 186.525

Springfield, Mass. – February 28, 2014 - The Springfield College women’s gymnastics team fell to visiting West Chester University, 187.575 – 186.525 on Friday night in Blake Arena, but the Pride had top performances from Lauren Pocius (Wallingford, Conn.) and Nikki Caradonna (Lynnfield, Mass.).

Pocius won the all-around competition with a combined score of 37.625, winning the floor exercise. Teammate Abby Clark (Holderness, N.H.) finished third overall in the all-around with a score of 37.100.

Pocius posted a winning score of 9.625 on the floor, while Clark took second with a mark of 9.550.

On the bars, Pocius was the Pride’s top finisher, finishing second with a score of 9.650. Caradonna took fourth with a mark of 9.450.

Caradonna had a big day for Springfield, winning the beam with a score of 9.600. Clark finished second with a 9.500.

The Pride had three gymnasts tie for third on the vault, as Nicole Silva (Barrington, R.I.), Clark and Pocius each posted a score of 9.450.

Springfield will host the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship on Saturday March 8th at 1:00 p.m. in Blake Arena.
