Pocius Leads Women’s Gymnastics in Tri-Meet

New Haven, Conn. – February 15, 2014 - Lauren Pocius (Wallingford, Conn.) led the Springfield College women’s gymnastics in a tri-meet with Southern Connecticut State University and Cortland on Saturday.

Host Southern Connecticut won with a score of 188.400, Cortland finished second with 186.750 and Springfield rounded out the scoring with 180.225.

Pocius continued her dominance on the bars, posting Springfield’s highest finish of the day with a third place finish with a mark of 9.525. The junior also finished third overall in the all-around competition with a combined score of 35.925.

Alexis Steifel (West Chester, Pa.) led the Pride on the beam with a sixth place finish with a score of 9.250. Nicole Silva (Barrington, R.I.) had Springfield’s top finish on the floor with a score of 9.325 to place 10th overall and Nicole Caradona (Lynnfield, Mass.) finished 10th on the bars with a mark of 9.175.

Next up, Springfield will host RIC at noon on February 23rd in the annual “Tumble for Teal” meet, geared at raising awareness for gynecological cancers.
