LaCrosse, Wisc. - March 27, 2015 - Led by sophomore Marissa DeAngelo (Brookfield, Conn.), the trio of seniors Abby Clark (Holderness, N.H.), Lauren Pocius (Wallingford, Conn.) and DeAngelo represented the Springfield College women's gymnastics program on the national stage, as all competed in the all-around competition on the opening night of the NCGA Championships on Friday night at Mitchell Hall on the campus of the University of Wisconsin - LaCrosse.
In the all-around, DeAngelo was the top finisher of the three posting score of 37.350, good for ninth overall,earning the first All-America honor of her young career, while Clark finished 13th with a score of 36.825 and Pocius rounded out the trio with a 14th-place score of 36.350.
DeAngelo kicked off the evening with a 9.500 in the vault, good for 26th overall, before registering an 8.700 on the uneven bars, a 9.600 on the balance beam, tying her for 21st overall, and wrapped up the day with a 9.550 in the floor exercise, finishing 13th in the field.
As for Clark, the senior posted a 9.425 on the vault, before notching an 8.725 on the uneven bars, a 9.150 on the beam and a 16th-place score of 9.525 in the floor exercise. Her classmate, Pocius, finished 26th overall with a floor routine score of 9.450, after posting a 9.500 on the vault, a 9.050 on the uneven bars and an 8.350 on the balance beam.
The trio along with freshman Briana Kerr (Bolton, Conn.) will be in action on Saturday, the individual events will begin at 5 p.m. EST.
