Springfield, Mass. - January 14, 2019 - Junior Tali Twomey (Cotuit, Mass.) of the Springfield College women's gymnastics team was honored for her impressive meet for the Pride this past weekend, as she has been selected as the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) East Specialist of the Week, announced on Monday afternoon.
Twomey was outstanding in her first meet of the 2019 season, as the Rehabilitation and Disability Studies major won a pair of individual events at the Rhode Island College Quad Meet this past weekend, which included the Anchorwomen, Brockport and Ursinus. Twomey had the top vault score of the day, registering a 9.500 as the Pride's first competitor of the rotation, while also winning the floor exercise with a mark of 9.825. Twomey, who won the 2018 NCGA National Championship in the floor exercise last season, is the No. 1-ranked Division III gymnast on floor in 2019. Twomey's efforts helped the Pride to a second-place finish at the quad, as the maroon and white produced a team score of 183.300.
Next up, Springfield College will travel to Ithaca College on Saturday, January 19, and will take on the Bombers and Brockport. The meet is set to begin at 1 p.m.
