Cortland, N.Y. - March 9, 2019 - The Springfield College women's gymnastics team took fourth overall at the 2019 National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) East Regional Championship, hosted at Cortland's Park Center on Saturday afternoon.
Brockport won the meet with a school and NCGA East Regional Championship meet record of 193.700, while Ithaca took second with a 191.650. Cortland finished third overall with a 188.175, while the Pride fell just short of the Red Dragons with a 188.100. Wrapping up the top six was Ursinus with a 186.150 and Rhode Island College with a 185.525.
The Pride started the day on floor, as it was led by a 9.775 from Tali Twomey (Cotuit, Mass.), who was followed by a 9.725 from Rushlow. Next was Clemens with a 9.700, while MacKenzie MacLeod (Kennebunk, Maine) posted a 9.550. Wrapping up the rotation was Heather Gomes (Beverly, Mass.) with a 9.475 and Victoria Gendreau (Warren, R.I.) with a 9.425.
Moving on to vault, Springfield College was led by a 9.700 from Rushlow, which earned the sophomore All-East region honors ,as she was followed by Gomes with a 9.625. Next was a 9.575 from Clemens, before Twomey and Taylor Jackson (Ocean, N.J.) produced matching scores of 9.550.
Springfield College then competed on the uneven bars, as the top three socres on the event were a 9.450 from Alana Calabrese (West Hartford, Conn.), a 9.350 from Lena Morant (Gambrills, Md.) and a 9.000 from Rushlow.
Lastly, on beam, the maroon and white was led by a 9.700 from Sara King (Maribor, Slovenia), followed by a 9.500 from Gomes. Next was a 9.350 from Rushlow, followed by a 9.125 from Calabrese and a 9.100 from Clemens.
