Springfield, Mass. - September 18, 2017 - Springfield College's Ciara Boucher (Manchester, Conn.) and Mikaela Coady (Middletown, Conn.) of the women's soccer program were recognized for their impressive performances this past week, as the duo earned New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Soccer weekly honors.
Boucher, a senior goalkeeper and Psychology major at Springfield College earned ECAC Division III New England and NEWMAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week honors, while Coady, a senior forward and Physician Assistant major at Springfield College, was named the NEWMAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
Boucher was outstanding in net for the Pride this past week, as the maroon and white picked up two shutout victories over No.12 Amherst College and Coast Guard in its NEWMAC opener. In Springfield College's 2-0 win over the Mammoths, Boucher mad a career-best 11 saves, before adding in four stops on Saturday in a 5-0 win over the Bears.
Coady had two goals and an assist in a pair of wins for the Pride this past week. Coady registered the game-deciding goal in a win over No. 12 Amherst College on Wednesday, before coming back on Saturday and kicking off a 5-0 win for Coast Guard with a marker in the 11th minute to lead the Pride to a NEWMAC-opening win over Coast Guard. Later in the game, Coady helped set up Kim Quiles (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) for her team-leading fifth goal of the season.
