Women's Soccer Cruises Past Western New England, 7-1

Springfield, Mass. - September 5, 2018 - The Springfield College women's soccer team got off to a fast start and cruised past cross-town rival Western New England, 7-1, on Wednesday afternoon at Suprenant Field. 

With the win, the Pride is off to a 3-0 start for the third time in the last 10 years and second season in a row, while the Golden Bears fall to 1-1 on the year. Springfield College held a 23-8 shot advantage over 90 minutes of play, while each team was awarded three cornier kicks.

In net, senior goalkeeper Jackie Davis (Ringoes, N.J.) earned her second victory of the year as she made four stops, before Izzy Inglese (Wolcott, Conn.) came in for the final 24:30 and sealed the victory. 

Freshman midfielder Kaleigh Dale (Mansfield, Conn.) netted three goals in the win, while Sydney Wine (New Braintree, Mass.), Amanda Wright (Pittsfield, Mass.), Maddy Bonavita (Wilbraham, Mass.) and Heather Jennato (Hookset, N.H.) also found the back of the net for the maroon and white.

Springfield College opened the scoring just 4:10 into the contest when Dale found the back of the net, unassisted, before Kellie Gambell (Middletown, Conn.) set up Wright for her fourth strike of the year just 2:15 later to grant the Pride a 2-0 cushion.

In the 36th minute, the maroon and white extended its lead to three when Dale registered her second marker of the contest, before Wine scored 3:03 later to make it 4-0, Springfield College, heading into the halftime break.

Dale completed her hat trick in the 61st minute as she buried a feed from Gambell, before Jennato notched her first-career tally with 17:19 to play in the contest, giving the visitors a 6-0 lead. Bonavita wrapped up the Pride's scoring at the 4:05 mark, as she finished a ball from Sydney Fackrell (Hamburg, N.J.), making it 7-0.

Western New England was able to find the back of the net with 2:02 remaining, but the Pride would finish with a 7-1 result.
