Springfield, Mass. - October 29, 2018 - Springfield College's Amanda Wright (Pittsfield, Mass.) was recognized for her outstanding play last week, as she was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Soccer Co-Offensive Athlete of the Week, announced by the conference offices on Monday afternoon.
Wright, a senior forward and Therapeutic Recreation major at Springfield College, shared the award with Jessica Fernandes of Babson College.
The Pittsfield, Mass. native was instrumental in a pair of NEWMAC victories for the Pride this past week, as the maroon and white closed out the regular season with a mark of 8-2, locking up the No. 2 seed in the upcoming NEWMAC Championship Tournament. Wright found the back of the net in the first overtime period to lift the Pride to a 3-2 win over Wheaton on Wednesday night, before scoring the lone goal in a 1-0 win over WPI on Sunday.
Wright has tallied eight goals on the season, six of which have been game-winning strikes.
The second-seeded Pride will host seventh-seeded Wheaton College on Tuesday, October 30 at 7 p.m. at Brock-Affleck Field in the NEWMAC Championship Quarterfinals.
