Danbury, Conn. - December 12, 2018 - Following a historic first season with the Springfield College women's soccer team, midfielder Kaleigh Dale (Mansfield, Conn.) has been recognized for her efforts, earned All-Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) honors, which was announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Dale, who was named the 2018 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Soccer Rookie of the Year, was one of three student-athletes from the New England region to be recognized, as she earned Second Team honors.
Dale had quite the freshman season, as she totaled 44 points on 20 goals and four assists, while leading the Pride to an overall record of 15-6-1. Dale, who broke the Springfield College women's soccer program record for goals in a single season with 20, also recorded 44 points, which was the third-best mark for points in a single season, falling just short of Angel Schofield, who was able to produce 46 points in 1991 and 48 points in 1992. Dale, who was also a NEWMAC First-Team All-Conference selection, notched four three-goal games throughout the 2018 campaign, which also included four game-winning strikes.
Earlier this year, Dale was also named to the New England Soccer Journal's All-Rookie Team following her impressive freshman campaign.
Established in 1938, the ECAC is the nation's largest Conference, ranging in location from Maine to Georgia, and westerly to Missouri. The ECAC hosts numerous championships in men's and women's sports across Divisions I, II and III, offering opportunities for thousands of student-athletes.
