Norfolk, Va. - January 29, 2019 - The Springfield College women's swimming and diving team has been recognized for their excellence in the classroom as it was selected as a College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Division III Scholar All-America Team.
For a team to be considered, it must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as defined by the institution. The team grade point average includes all eligible varsity student-athletes. There were 713 teams that earned the distinction of Scholar All-America team for the Fall 2018 semester, which represented 460 institutions from across all NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA Divisions.
It was an outstanding first semester for the Pride as the squad combined to produce a 3.63 team grade point average, marking the eighth best in Division III. A total of 171 women's swimming and diving teams Division III were recognized, and Springfield had the third-highest GPA among teams from New England, as well as the best in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC).
Springfield College will be in action this weekend when it hosts Amherst on Saturday at 1 pm.
