Worcester, Mass. - February 23, 2019 - Following the third day of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships, the Springfield College women's swimming and diving team is in fifth place.
The Pride has totaled 402 points through three days of action, while MIT has outdistanced itself from the 10-team field with 851 points. Wheaton (627), Coast Guard (486), Wellesley (451), and Springfield round out the top half of the conference.
Olivia Paione (Auburn, Maine) earned NEWMAC Second Team All-Conference honors in the 100 breast as she took second in 1:05.83, while teammate Izzy Ripp (Selden, N.Y.) registered a 1:08.86 to finish in ninth place. In the 400 IM, Grace Moore (Glastonbury, Conn.) turned in a time of 4:38.55 as she placed sixth in the event.
Lauren Longley (Westfield, Mass.) raced the 100 fly in posted a 1:00.08, while in the 200 free, Haley Cordery (Berkley, Mass.) registered a 1:57.80. Hillary Gallagher (Exeter, R.I.) also competed in the 100 back and touched in 59.70.
To conclude the evening, the 200 medley relay team of Moore, Paione, Brianna Magee (Haupaugge, N.Y.), and Ripp clocked in at 1:48.53, which was good enough for fourth.
