Greensboro, N.C. - March 20, 2019 - Springfield College's Sierra Skaza (Belchertown, Mass.) finished seventh on the three-meter board at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships on Wednesday evening at the Greensboro Aquatic Center to earn All-America honors.
29 divers from across the country competed in the opening night of the national meet, and Skaza was one of five divers from the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) to appear in the competition. The senior put together an outstanding performance to earn the first All-America honors of her career as she finished seventh in the country with a 453.70. In the prelims earlier in the afternoon, the Psychology major totaled a 439.25 on her 11 dives to earn a spot in the championship final.
Just to reach the national meet was an incredible accomplishment for Skaza after an eventful NCAA Division III Northeast Regionals on March 1-2. After not finishing the one-meter competition due to injury, the senior put together a tremendous display of courage and determination on the three-meter board the following day, scoring a 460.90 to finish in fifth place and punch her ticket to Greensboro.
Last season, Skaza finished 16th in the three-meter event in her first-ever trip to the national stage as she earned Honorable Mention All-America honors.
