Greensboro, N.C. - March 22, 2019 - Competing for the final time in her collegiate career, Springfield College's Sierra Skaza (Belchertown, Mass.) finished 11th on the one-meter board at the NCAA Division III Championships, which were held at the Greensboro Aquatics Center on Friday afternoon.
Among the 29 divers in the competition, Skaza earned a spot in the consolation finals as she took the 16th and final spot after producing an 11-dive score of 387.20 during the prelims. In the consolation finals, Skaza made the most of her final six collegiate dives and turned in a 406.30 to finish 11th in the country on the board and garner Honorable Mention All-America honors. Last season, Skaza finished 22nd in her first-ever appearance on the national stage in the event.
The Psychology major became the first Springfield's women's diver since 2014 to finish in the top 11 on both boards as she previously placed seventh on the three-meter board earlier this week. In fact, Skaza is just the 11th diver in program history to finish in the top 11 on both boards in the same NCAA Championship appearance.
