Orlando, Fla. - March 13, 2018 - The Springfield College women's tennis team was clipped by St. Scholastica by a 5-4 decision on Tuesday afternoon.
The match started off with singles play first and the Pride cruised to victories at the top two spots. Cara Freadman (Richmond, Mass.) eased her way to a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 1, while teammate Emily Etter (Guilford, Conn.) picked up a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 2. The Saints would then earn victories in the other four singles matches, including two in a third-set tiebreaker to take a 4-2 lead in doubles action.
Springfield battled to two 8-6 wins at No. 2 doubles and No. 3 doubles, as Melissa Parrish (Framingham, Mass.) and Addie Kendall (Lakeville, Mass.) won at No. 2 and Rachel Litchfield (Northridge, Mass.) and Rachel Ahlmeyer (Morris Plains, N.J.) took the win at No. 3. The Saints were then able to clinch the win with an 8-6 win of their own at No. 1.
Springfield will hit the courts again on Thursday morning versus Dickinson for a 10 am match.
