Women's Tennis Controls Singles Play For 6-3 Win Over Dickinson

Orlando, Fla. - March 15, 2018 - The Springfield College women's tennis team won five of the six singles matches to prevail by a 6-3 margin over Dickinson on Thursday afternoon as part of its annual spring break trip.

The Pride mustered just one point in doubles play as Rachel Litchfield (Northridge, Mass.) and Rachel Ahlmeyer (Morris Plains, N.J.) took the win at No. 3 by a score of 8-4.

However, it was a much different story in singles play as Springfield put together a number of gritty efforts to prevail over Dickinson. Emily Etter (Guilford, Conn.) was dominant at the No. 2 spot for the Pride as she cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win, while Ahlmeyer delivered a 7-5, 6-1 victory at No. 6.  Addie Kendall (Lakeville, Mass.) turned in a 6-4, 6-2 triumph at No. 4, before both Cara Freadman (Richmond, Mass.) and Melissa Parrish (Framingham, Mass.) rallied from dropping first sets to lift the Pride to victory.  Playing at the No. 1 singles position, Freadman bounced back with a 3-6, 6-2, 12-10 win, while Parrish registered a 2-6, 7-5, 10-2 win at No. 5.

Springfield will play for the final time in Florida on Friday afternoon at 3 pm versus Delaware Valley.
