Women's Tennis Closes Florida Trip With 9-0 Victory Over Delaware Valley

Orlando, Fla. - March 16, 2018 - The Springfield College women's tennis team wrapped up their annual spring break trip to Florida with a 9-0 victory over Delaware Valley on Friday morning.

The Pride improved to 4-2 on the year as it delivered wins in three of its four matches down south this week.

In doubles play, Springfield's top team of Emily Etter (Guilford, Conn.) and Cara Freadman (Richmond, Mass.) and the No. 3 unit of Hailey Higgins (New Marlborough, Mass.) and Amanda Hill (East Longmeadow, Mass.) each won by a 8-0 decisions, while Rachel Litchfield (Northridge, Mass.) and Rachel Ahlmeyer (Morris Plains, N.J.) took the win at No. 2 by a score of 8-3.

In singles action, the Pride made quick work of the Aggies as Litchfield, Ahlmeyer, and Hill all won by 6-0, 6-0 margins.  Kendall picked up a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2, Melissa Parrish (Framingham, Mass.) prevailed by a 6-1, 6-0 at No.3, and Higgins delivered a 6-0, 6-2 triumph at No. 5.

Springfield will head back up north now and host Eastern Nazarene at 4 pm on Tuesday.
