Cambridge, Mass. - September 7, 2018 - The Springfield College women's volleyball team began the MIT Invitational with a four-set victory over Morrisville State on Friday evening. The Pride won by the set scores of 25-12, 19-25, 25-12, 25-11.
The win pushes the Pride's record to 5-0 and it will now prepare to face off with Endicott and Lasell on Saturday starting at 12 pm.
Jen Donnelly (Exeter, R.I.) registered a team-high 12 kills to pace Springfield's offense to go along with 10 digs, while Briana Tovar (Tucson, Ariz.) led all players with 18 digs. Hayley Kmetz (Ardsley, N.Y.) put together a very strong showing with nine kills on a .400 hitting percentage, 10 digs, and three aces. Sara Labadorf (Huntersville, N.C.) stuffed her stat sheet with 34 assists in directing Springfield's attack to a .292 hitting percentage, and chipped in seven digs, five kills, and four service aces. The Pride hit above .320 in all three sets that it won, including a match-best .357 showing in the fourth and final frame.
