Women's Soccer Falls to the University of New England, 4-3

Springfield, Mass. - September, 4, 2026 - The University of New England came back to defeat the Springfield College women's soccer team, 4-3, in a Friday afternoon game on Brock-Affleck Field.

The Pride drop to 1-1 on the season while the Nor'easters improve to 2-0.

Katie McFerran (Selkirk, N.Y.) scored her second goal in two games in the loss while also tallying an assist. First-year Adyson Wiseman (Waterford, Conn.) notched her first collegiate goal and Peyton Knott (Leicester, Mass.) also scored while Olivia Beach (Cheshire, Conn) recorded two assists.

The Pride struck first, netting two first-half goals. Wiseman broke the scoreless tie in the 13th minute, netting her first goal of the season off of a feed from McFerran. McFerran got on the board herself shortly after, connecting with Beach to put the Pride ahead 2-0 in the 19th minute. The Nor'easters cut the deficit in half in the 40th minute, scoring off a free kick to make it 2-1 heading into the half.

University of New England continued their momentum through the halftime break, scoring two more goals within the first 15 minutes of the half to take the lead.

The Pride battled back, tying the game at three in the 63rd minute when Beach found Knott who then drilled her first goal of the year from just outside the box. The Nor'easters responded in the 78th minute, scoring the game winning goal on a corner kick.

University of New England outshot Springfield 15-10, also leading 10-5 in shots on goal. The Pride's goalie tandem of Mallory Forgatch (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) and Mairead Marsden (Amsterdam, N.Y.) each tallied three saves.
