Springfield, Mass. – October 19, 2010 – Currently riding an 11-match win streak entering Tuesday’s match at WPI, the Springfield College women’s volleyball team is currently ranked second in New England in the latest New England WomenÂ's Volleyball Association (NEWVA) Division III Poll.
Springfield, which is receiving votes in the AVCA National Poll as it is ranked 29th in the nation, owns a 23-2 record so far this season.
UMass-Boston, currently ranked 26th in the nation, is ranked the top team in New England and stands at 20-2 on the year. Amherst is ranked third, while Tufts and Coast Guard round out the top five.
Entering this weekend’s all important Volleyball Hall of Fame Invitational, Springfield will take on the 12th-best team in New England, Bowdoin, in the first round. If Springfield is victorious, it will take on the winner of the Amherst/Wellesley match on Saturday.
