SERVICES AVAILABLE:

Staff Coverage:  A Certified Athletic Trainer (AT) will be on site at all contests or within the athletic facility for matches/meets involving Springfield College athletic teams. All hosted post-season play and championships will have a Certified Athletic Trainer (AT) on site.  

Athletic Training Room: Located in the Physical Education Complex, lower level. Pre-event taping and wrapping will be performed provided visiting team notifies our staff 24 hours in advance and provide all supplies needed.  To contact the AT staff, utilize the contact information above.

Treatments: Ice packs and ice cups are available upon request.  Modalities such as, Hydrocollator packs, Whirlpools, Ultrasound and Electric Stimulation may be utilized by the Certified Athletic Trainer traveling with the team. 

IF NO CERTIFIED ATHLETIC TRAINER TRAVELS WITH THE TEAM, A WRITTEN PRESCRIPTION FROM A PHYSICIAN, OR A NOTE FROM THE AT, MUST BE PRESENTED TO THE SPRINGFIELD COLLEGE ATHLETIC TRAINING STAFF FOR THE ADMINISTRATION OF HEAT MODALITIES, WRAPPINGS AND TAPINGS.

SPRINGFIELD COLLEGE ATHLETIC TRAINING STAFF WILL NOT TREAT ANY VISITING ATHLETES WITH ELECTRIC MODIALIES.

The host AT will assist with referral options and provide directions.

Equipment: Ice, plastic bags, coolers and splint kits are standard set-up supplies. Crutches, knee immobilizers, slings, spinal immobilization equipment are on hand for emergencies. Immediate care supplies may be loaned to visiting injured athletes when necessary. 

Water

Water is a standard set-up at all events.  Outdoor events have water pipe and/or fountain, at locations where these are not available coolers of water will be set up.  Indoor events will have water coolers set up and cups or water bottles will be available as needed. 

EMS:  

An Ambulance is available as needed, and is in attendance at all football games. For contests other than football the host AT will assist you in activating EMS.

When a Springfield College Team Travels to Host School/Site

* When our team arrives at your campus, the student-athletes that need assistance will check in with the host AT. Each team will come prepared with the athletic training supplies needed. The head coach will have each athlete's emergency information. Teams that travel with an AT are Football and Men's Lacrosse. We will contact the host athletic trainers 24 hours in advance of the contest to inform them about the needs of our team traveling to their school.

Sickle Cell Trait Testing
In January, 2022, the NCAA passed legislation requiring sickle cell trait testing for all incoming student-athletes beginning in the fall of 2022. All new (including transfer student-athletes) will have to show proof of sickle cell testing.  Results need to be uploaded onto the student-athlete's ATS profile.
