Women's Volleyball Opens Volleyball Hall of Fame Invitational With 3-1 Win Over Amherst

Northampton, Mass. – October 19, 2012 – The Springfield College women’s volleyball team opened up the Volleyball Hall of Fame Invitational with a four-set victory over Amherst College in a key regional match hosted at Smith College. The Pride won 25-19, 12-25, 25-23, 25-16.

The Pride, which was ranked 4th in New England in today’s NCAA Regional rankings, improves to 23-5 on the season.

First-year Daniella Crismani had her best offensive match of her collegiate career, totaling 14 kills at a .428 clip to go along with a team-best 19 digs.

Fellow outside Tessa Smolinski tallied 13 kills and 14 digs, while Mary Consol registered seven kills and six blocks.

Running Springfield’s offense to a .248 hitting percentage, Whitney Miller recorded 26 assists and Molly Giannattasio was credited with 18. Additionally, Amy Entel ended the evening with 17 digs.

Springfield will be back in action on Saturday morning when it battles both Williams and Middlebury.
