Springfield split its two meetings with the Blue earlier this season, as each team won on the other’s home court.
The first time they met on December 3, Wellesley closed the game on a 12-0 run, turning a three-point deficit into a nine-point win in just over two minutes of play. For Springfield, Colleen Dignum was the only player to reach double figures, tallying a game-high 16 points. Behind her, junior Meghan Biondolillo tallied eight points, while senior Kelly Slattery chipped in with seven.
In the team’s last meeting on Jan. 28, the Blue hit a game-tying lay-up at the buzzer to force overtime, but Slattery took over in the extra session, to lift the Pride the victory. Slattery finished with a game-high 27 points, while adding seven rebounds and four steals. Kelly Murphy added 12 points, while Dignum tallied 10 points for the Pride, including five key points late in the second half.
