Cambridge, Mass. – September 22, 2012 – The Springfield College women’s volleyball team wrapped up a very successful weekend with wins over Tufts and Bates to finish second at the MIT Invitational. Coupled with wins over Bowdion and Endicott on Friday evening, Springfield is now 12-3 and winners of five-straight matches.

In the first match of the day against Tufts, Springfield dropped the opening set, 18-25, before grinding out the next three sets, 25-22, 25-22, 25-23 to complete the four-set win.

Versus Bates, plenty of members of the team saw action as the Pride cruised 25-7, 25-15, 25-18.

For her efforts during the weekend, Mary Consol was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Host MIT claimed the Invitational’s crown, as they also finished the weekend with a 4-0 record, as did Wellesley College. However, sets won-lost broke the three-way tie as MIT had a ledger of 12-1, followed by the PrideÂ's 12-2 outing and the BlueÂ's record of 12-3.

Springfield will return to conference play on Tuesday when it hosts Clark at 7:00 pm.
