Oneonta, N.Y. – January 5, 2013 – The Springfield College women’s swimming and diving team cruised past both Union and Hartwick in a tri-meet on Saturday. The Pride eased past Hartwick, 153-83 and handled Union, 141-87.
Callie Phillips was tremendous as she picked up three victories, winning the 200 free in 1:59.41, touching first in the 200 IM in 2:14.04, and taking the 500 free in 5:14.97.
In the opening race of the day, Kelsey Poole, Nicolle Stracqualursi, Molly Potter, and Amanda Shaw posted a winning time of 4:09.70 in the 400 medley relay.
Kellie Pennington sprinted to a winning time of the 50 free in 24.39, and claimed first in the 100 free with a 54.19. Poole was first in the 200 back after touching in 2:11.88, and took second in 2:01.42 in the 200 free.
In the 1,000 free, Ashleigh Monroe, touched second in 10:59.27, while Potter placed second in the 200 fly with a 2:17.45.
Jennifer Thompson was first on the one-meter board with a national qualifying score of 262.85. Teammate Paige Rhodes placed second after scoring a 219. Thompson also won the three-meter with a national qualifying mark of 288.45. Rhodes was also second with a 248.
The Pride closed out the meet with the fastest time in 400 free relay as Monroe, Mary Masayda, Shaw and Pennington combined for a 3:47.74.
Springfield will compete again next Saturday when it hosts NYU.
