Men's Tennis Eases Past Western New England, 8-1

Springfield, Mass. - October 5, 2016 - The Springfield College men's tennis team wrapped up the fall portion of their schedule with an 8-1 triumph over Western New England on Wednesday afternoon.

Springfield earned all three doubles points, with the No. 2 squad of Tanner DeVarennes (Lee, Mass.) and Justin Danielewicz (Portland, Conn.) leading the way with an 8-2 victory.  The top doubles team of Alex Romaine (Stamford, Conn.) and Court Honda (Marioka, Japan) and the No. 3 team of Cameron Grant (Babylon, N.Y.) and Chris Unger (Westfield, Mass.) each won by 8-5 decisions.

In singles action, DeVarennes battled to a 6-1, 5-7, 10-7 win at No. 1, while Romaine followed with a 7-5, 6-1 victory at the No. 2 spot.  Honda battled his way to a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 3 and Danielewicz made quick work of his opponent by virtue of a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 4.  Springfield's other point in singles came at No. 5, with Kyle Beynor (Prospect, Conn.) picking up a 6-1, 6-1 win.
