Men's Tennis Rebounds With 9-0 Victory Over Emerson

Easton, Mass. - April 11, 2018 - The Springfield College men's tennis picked up its first New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) win of the season on Wednesday as it handled Emerson College, 9-0, on the campus of Stonehill. 

The Pride now stand at 6-6, 1-2 in conference action.

In doubles play, Court Honda (Morioka, Japan) and Alex Romaine (Stamford, Conn.) earned an 8-2 win at No. 1, while Sean Quirk (Mashpee, Mass.) and Chris Unger (Westfield, Mass.) turned in an 8-3 victory at No. 2.  The duo of Zack Keene (Agawam, Mass.) and Steven Ludtke (Feeding Hills, Mass.) were awarded a point by default.

Honda and Unger breezed to 6-0, 6-0 wins at No. 2 and No. 4, respectively, and Freddie Moffa (Granby, Conn.) battled to a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 5.  At the No. 3 spot, Keene picked up a 6-1, 6-3 triumph.  Romaine sealed a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 1 for the Pride, and Drew Delorenzo (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) closed out the scoring with a win by default.

Springfield won't hit the courts again on next Wednesday when it travels to take on Babson at 4 pm on April 18.
